Go Smile

Rated 2 1/2 stars

The Go Smile Speed Whitening system is the latest product in a range of teeth whitening options offered by this American company.

The whitening process works by the method of applying pre-whitening gel directly to the teeth via a swab and then hydrogen peroxide via an ampoule. The whitening effect of the hydrogen peroxide is activated by the pre-whitening gel which works as a catalyst.

A complete course of treatment takes four days and the kit contains nine pre whitening gel swabs and nine speed-whitening ampoules. The Go Smile Whitening system is available online from the company at $99 plus postage and packaging.

The treatment is in two parts and easy to do. In the first step, you apply pre-whitening gel to the teeth via a prefilled swab. This is an individually wrapped applicator with a small container of gel. You paint the pre whitening gel onto each tooth, redipping the swab into the gel as necessary. Once you have applied the pre whitener, the second step is to apply the whitening ampoule.

This sealed plastic ampoule contains a serving of hydrogen peroxide. You flip off the top of the ampoule, point the applicator downwards and squeeze the tube until it pops which tells you that the tip is loaded with whitening serum. Then you apply the product to each tooth. Leave for 20 minutes to allow it to dissolve on the teeth and rinse off. The company describes this process as “Flip pop and whiten”.

Go Smile Pros

The Go Smile Speed Whitening System is easy to use. The complete whitening effect is achieved in just four days and is said to lighten teeth up to eight shades. The kit contains an extra swab and ampoule so that you can practice before starting treatment and little sensitivity has been reported by users.

Go Smile Cons

This is an expensive teeth whitening kit that is one of the higher priced products available on the market.

Go Smile… verdict

Some consumers have been disappointed by results and have reported little change to the colour of their teeth and many users have complained of gum sensitivity following treatment. Another common complaint has been that the whitened effect does not last for very long.

The Go Smile Speed Whitening System is no easier to use than a teeth-whitening system that uses mouth trays. Each tooth has to be hand painted twice and there is a possibility of not achieving an even spread of product over the teeth. However, the main drawback with this product is the price and the lack of proven results.
